A Message From the Event Chairs

Welcome to the 2005 Journal Dinner-Dance, a celebration of Congregation  Tifereth Israel's 104th year, and a salute to Kenneth L. Stein, Citizen of the Year, and Roberta Garris, Congregation Honoree. All of us are indebted to these outstanding citizens for their valuable contributions to our
synagogue, and for their commitment to enhancing a Jewish presence on the North Fork.

This event, which largely endows our programming for the coming year, also serves as one of the highlights of our social calendar, made particularly special by your presence here tonight.

Planning a major event such as this one requires many helping hands, and we were fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers to assist us. While we cannot even try to name all of the people responsible for the success of
this evening, we must extend our thanks to a special few:

* To Ethel Brown, our member of longest standing, whose advice and counsel we cherish, and whose advertising expertise we so much appreciate.

* To Paul Birman for coordinating all printed materials in connection with the Journal Dinner-Dance, and for preparation of this beautiful journal.

* To Rosemarie Birman for oversight on each ad and each ad seller.

* To Peri Sausmer for hand-addressing every invitation and coordinating the seating arrangements.

* To Phil Goldman, president of our shul, and to Addy Brittman, president of the Daughters of Israel, for help and capital funds when needed.

* To Danny Harris, our treasurer, who tracked every ad, check, and donation.

* To Elaine Goldman, who retrieved the mail, answered the telephone, and responded to each message in connection with this event.

* To Rachel Murphy, owner of The Soundview Restaurant, who makes every guest feel at home.

* To all members who solicited advertising and silent auction goods and services, and to all members and friends who placed ads in this journal.

We thank you. And to our honorees, their families and friends, and to our members and their guests, we hope you have a wonderful evening.
